[alexis] = gorgeousness!

what the heck is in the water in rockport?!! because all the high school seniors that have honored me with a session are gorgeous and fun and delightful and sweet. and alexis. alexis is certainly no exception. she has a smile that lights up a room and a wonderful personality to go with it. i know how uncomfortable it is to be in front of a camera lens - reason no. 4 [of a very long list] why i don't like being in front of a camera - but alexis rocked it out. a very confident young lady indeed. alexis, i hope you have a a wonderful senior year - wishing you lots of success!! hope you love your sneak peek. you were a pleasure to shoot!!

[well ok then]......

the sky was blue. a perfect day to do it. she likes to dress herself these days. she wore her skirt around the house for a few days prior - taking it out for a spin. over jeans, with her sneakers, over her pj's, each time i spied her in it i would make her take it off. she would protest. i would win. i had a vision of how i wanted her to look. i just wanted one shot at the shot. you know.......the holiday card shot. the dreaded.holiday.card.shot.
the afternoon was fahreeeeezing. figures. where did this wind come from? it was balmy just a day before. of all the days i planned it, it had to be cold cold cold. but try i did. it backfired. wasn't going to happen. she's onto me. she rarely looks at my lens anymore. she knows. she knows how to push all my buttons. she's a free spirit. i can't blame her. she's got her swirly skirt on and there's nothing but grass to run around in. why would she want to stop and pose for her mom.
oh well. perhaps i'll try again tomorrow. or maybe i'll just settle and use one of these shots - after all it's her. my girl.

shameless plug. - there's still time to book your christmas card session. can't think of the perfect gift? i can!! a bluelime photography gift certificate. give the gift of a memory. session gift certificates are available. [email meg@bluelimephoto.com - for details]

outtake no. 1 - i'm hungry. i'm really really hungry. [she's always really hungry - even after her lunch] open the lollipop survival kit. oh and what's this thing mom? are you trying to get a little holiday touch in your shot? um....yes annie will you hold it? no mom. well ok then.
[a.v.s.]

outtake no. 2 - will you smile for me? no mom. well ok then.
outtake no. 3 - make a wish annie and blow. i wish my mother would stop.

outtake no. 6 - ok my sweet girl why don't you show me that wonderful smile. well ok then.
[a.v.s.]

[a walk in the park]

the best part of being a photographer is the opportunity to observe. when i shoot kids, i love to just let them be and hopefully along the way get some of those great smiles and laughter.
i had the pleasure of shooting these adorable cousins, cate and ben (and of course their parents too!). i photographed ben last year - such fun to document a child's growth - their journey is so incredible.
we had gorgeous weather, tons of leaves to play with, bridges to cross and explore, trees to hide among, that beautiful fall air and light - a lovely walk.
thanks so much for spending the afternoon with me i had so much fun - here is a sneak peek!! so many more to come very soon.

[just thinking]

in this age of technology..... a lot of folks are busy sending texts, shooting off emails, leaving blog comments (love that srsly i do!), status updates on facebook, twitter reminders etc, etc. i am guilty of all the above (and there's nothing wrong with it!) - but i miss putting it down on good old fashioned paper. i love taking pen (particularly a new black super fine sharpie - don't even get me started on how much i miss my expresso pens - why don't they make them any more?!) to paper. i feel more committed to the task if i write it down. i love making my to do lists and the joy of crossing off the items once they are accomplished. sure that "to do" list usually mocks me on a daily basis as it grows bigger and not smaller. but i guess my point is for me, i need my filofax stuffed with receipts, photos of my daughter, scraps of paper, postcards, a handwritten card from my beloved mom. i love my stacks of notebooks and journals filled with thoughts, reminders, places i want to go shoot. they may take away all the magazines i love but they won't take away my beautiful handmade paper linen bound journal i bought in rome or my $1.99 fabulously cool target journal.
just thinking.

[ever after]

erin and duncan were married this summer. i didn't shoot their wedding but was thrilled when they contacted me to book an "ever after" session. such fun to be with newlyweds who are quite obviously smitted with each other. donned in their wedding finery, no pressure, just a lot of fun....and some cool locations to boot. it was rather chilly out but such troopers they were! i loved this session. i hope you love your photos as much as i do!! wishing you all kinds of happiness in your life together. thanks for the great time.
